WABI-SABI RAINBOW MALA

The Japanese concept of Wabi-sabi is acceptance and understanding that the beauty of things is imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. It is a beauty of things unconventional. 

I make these malas from a bead jar where I collect beads left over from other projects when there's only one or two left; many beads are perfect and some are the beads that I've pulled out because the color or contour was a little off. Some have little cracks or chips that weren't bad enough for me to want to throw them away. So into a jar they went. In making this mala I did not lay them out on a bead board. This mala was made as they were meant to go on the cord, randomly selected as I reached into the jar. 

There will be more of these malas made each time I gain enough beads! But this mala doesn't just use up extra or imperfect beads. In making it I realized it honors all the malas that came before it. As I held each bead I could remember the mala I made from which this bead was pulled. 

Made with the same loving care and intentions this is a wonderful and powerful mala for anyone that would like to bring it home.
